What Happened to Missouri Case.net? Is It Down or Just Changed?

If Missouri Case.net stopped opening for you, or you saw a virus warning when you tried to check a case, you are not the only one. The site did not shut down. It still works at courts.mo.gov/casenet.

Trying to access Missouri Case.net?

Quick Answer 🏛️

No, Missouri Case.net did not shut down. It still works at courts.mo.gov/casenet. The old www2.courts.mo.gov address was retired on November 1, 2025, and fake look-alike Case.net sites showed up in March 2026.

  • Real address: courts.mo.gov/casenet
  • Old bookmark starting with “www2”: Delete it and save the new address
  • Asked to pay or download something: You may be on a fake site
  • Still not loading: Check the other fixes and contacts on this page

Two changes in the past year confused a lot of people. In November 2025, the courts turned off an old web address that many people had saved. Then in March 2026, fake copies of Case.net showed up online, and the Missouri Judiciary warned the public about them.

This page covers both changes, other reasons the portal may not load, and who to call if you still can’t get in.

Is Missouri Case.net Still Working?

Yes. Case.net is still Missouri’s free online portal for public court records. Missouri court staff built it and still run it. You can search by name, case number, filing date, or hearing date, and you still don’t need an account.

There is only one real address: courts.mo.gov/casenet. You can also open it from the Missouri Courts homepage at courts.mo.gov.

Change 1: The Old www2 Address Was Shut Down (November 1, 2025)

On November 1, 2025, the Missouri Judiciary retired the older address www2.courts.mo.gov. Many people had Case.net pages bookmarked under that address. Once it went offline, those saved links started showing errors.

This is why so many people in late 2025 thought Case.net was down. The court records did not go anywhere. Only the address changed.

How to fix it:

  • Delete any bookmark that starts with “www2”.
  • Type courts.mo.gov/casenet into your browser.
  • Save that page as your new bookmark.

If your lawyer, bail bond agent, or employer sent you a link that starts with “www2”, it will no longer work either. Use the main address instead.

Change 2: Fake Case.net Websites (March 2026)

On March 17, 2026, the courts found at least one website pretending to be Case.net. The next day, the Supreme Court of Missouri issued a public warning.

The main fake site was Casenetmo.us. It was set up to look like court staff ran it, but they didn’t. People who tried to use it could get a pop-up saying a virus had been found on their device. The courts reported it to law enforcement, and an investigation was opened.

Other Look-Alike Sites Named in the Warning

The courts also listed these sites. They are not run by or connected to Missouri courts:

  • mo-casenet.us
  • casenetmo.net
  • mo-case.net
  • casenetmonet.website3.me
  • www-casenetmo.us

At the time of the warning, officials were not sure whether all of these carried the same risk. Stay away from all of them.

How to Tell You’re on the Real Case.net

  • The address begins with https://www.courts.mo.gov.
  • The domain has no “.us”, no extra dashes, and no extra words.
  • Searching is always free. The only payment option is “Make a Payment” for court fines and costs.

The courts suggest typing the address yourself instead of clicking links from search results, ads, or social media posts.

If You Already Opened a Fake Site

  • Close the tab right away.
  • Don’t download anything or allow browser notifications from it.
  • Run a virus scan on your computer or phone.
  • If you entered card details, call your bank and ask them to watch for strange charges.

Other Reasons Case.net May Not Load

If you are on the right address and the page still won’t open, check these:

  • Service hours. Case.net runs Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 1 a.m. Central Time. Outside those hours, searches may not go through.
  • VPN or overseas connection. The court system can block traffic from VPNs or IP addresses outside the U.S. Turn your VPN off and reload.
  • “403” or access notice. Missouri courts block tools that pull data in bulk. Browser add-ons or running many searches back to back can trigger this. Wait a few minutes and search at a normal pace.
  • Maintenance or heavy traffic. Like most state websites, the portal sometimes goes down for updates or slows down during busy hours.
  • Browser problems. Clear your cache, try another browser, or open it on your phone.

If the page loads but your case doesn’t show up, that’s a different problem. It may be sealed, expunged, or handled by a court that doesn’t share records online. Our step-by-step Case.net search guide covers this in detail.

FAQs

Did Missouri Case.net shut down?

No. It is still online and free to use at courts.mo.gov/casenet.

Did Case.net move to a new website?

No. The main address stayed the same. Only the older www2.courts.mo.gov address was retired.

Why do I get a virus warning when I try to open Case.net?

You are most likely on a fake copy. The real site does not show virus pop-ups. Close the page and type the official address yourself.

Is casenetmo.us the real Case.net?

No. The Missouri Judiciary named it as a fake site in its March 2026 warning.

Are sites that charge for Missouri court records the same as Case.net?

No. Some private sites sell court record searches, but they are not the official portal, and their data may be old. The real Case.net never charges you to search.

Were any court records lost when the www2 address closed?

No. Retiring the old address did not remove any records. The same cases are still on the main site.

Does Case.net work outside the United States?

It may not. Connections from outside the U.S. or through a VPN can be blocked. If you live abroad, a U.S.-based lawyer or the Circuit Clerk’s Office can check a case for you.

Conclusion

Missouri Case.net is still up and running. If it stopped working for you, the cause is usually an old www2 bookmark, a fake look-alike site, or a VPN. Save courts.mo.gov/casenet as your only bookmark, skip unknown links, and call the OSCA Help Desk if the problem continues. For help with the case itself, contact your local Circuit Clerk’s Office or a licensed attorney.
